Born to live believes that every child, regardless of their geographical location or socioeconomic background, deserves an education. We are dedicated to bringing hope and change to remote communities by providing not just education, but a holistic approach to child development. Beyond the classroom, we understand that a hungry mind cannot learn. That is why a critical component of our mission is providing nutritious meals to the children in our care. Through our unwavering commitment, we are transforming lives, one child, one lesson, and one meal at a time, building a foundation of hope that will break the cycle of poverty and bring hope.
The Day School in Pathamari that started with just 10 children has blossomed into a thriving center supporting around 38 children today. Pathamari remains an economically backward and often overlooked community, facing significant challenges like economic hardship, lack of development, limited school accessibility, and child labor. Many girls, in particular, are forced into early marriage or dropping out of school. Higher education is incredibly rare here. Our goal is to support every child in our Day School through to college graduation, breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to brighter futures. It’s a challenging journey, but with your help, it’s a dream we can make a reality.
We have dedicated teachers who provide a comprehensive daily routine to students. Our Day School provides a nurturing and structured environment. Each morning, our students arrive for academic lessons and physical training, followed by a nutritious breakfast before they head to their local government school. In the afternoons, our center becomes a vibrant place for study support, a warm meal and joyful activities like soccer, badminton, cricket, and even gardening, before they return home. It is heartening to see some of our students in high school now. They have been with us since we started our Day school in 2014. These students are receiving extra coaching to prepare them for the board exams. One of our students has successfully completed her Grade 10 this year and is now pursuing her Grade 12 in the neighbouring town. Born to live has provided her with a bicycle to facilitate her daily commute.
In West Bengal, our comprehensive support for student education and development includes a scholarship program, coaching centers, and a job orientation program. Our assistance is need-based. Born to Live provides students with essential school supplies, textbooks, and other educational resources, alongside nutritional support (when needed) to ensure they can fully develop and thrive.
